1987-a Treaty Oak Apartment

We moved to the Treaty Oak apartment which in the same building but the apartment was on the second floor, and the office was on the third floor.

The exterior of the building faced Sixth Street, which was really best known as a route to the Southwest Freeway. It was on the East side of Lamar, and was not yet the gentrified night life district that it is today.

The entry hallway had beautiful arches and high ceilings. You entered directly from the parking garage. You would come into the entryway hall to the side was the kitchen area adjacent to the dining area, and directly ahead you would see the fireplace and the living room area, all on an open plan that felt very spacious. There was a door out to the terrace where you could sit and enjoy the view while having a drink before dinner.

Unfortunately there was a security incident in the elevator that we learned about, and it made us feel uncomfortable living there, so we began to look for a new rental for our residence. Additionally, the office was now doing a little better and we wanted a workspace that was more efficient and comfortable to work in.

We had moved the office to the Sanborn House at 404 West 7th Street and so it really did make sense to stay at Treaty Oak for our residence. We looked at several rentals but nothing was suitable, but then we were desperate to move into a new place before Christmas. We found the house at Avenue G, and that is the next chapter.
